Mechelen, October 5, 2020 – Telenet announced today that Jeroen Bronselaer has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of SBS as of November 1, 2020. Jeroen Bronselaer (41), currently Senior Vice President Residential Marketing at Telenet, succeeds Peter Quaghebeur, who will leave SBS on November 1, 2020. In addition to this role, Jeroen Bronselaer will also manage all Telenet media activities that are not exclusively aimed at Telenet customers. He continues to be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of Telenet, and, in this capacity, will continue to report to CEO John Porter.
In addition to its ambition to be a prominent provider of connectivity solutions in Belgium, Telenet also remains a pioneer in the field of media and entertainment. A cornerstone in this strategy is the continued development and strengthening of media company SBS. As of November 1, Jeroen Bronselaer will head this company as CEO. In addition to his responsibilities at SBS, Jeroen will also set the direction for the media and entertainment activities of Telenet that are aimed at the broadest possible audience and are therefore not exclusively aimed at Telenet customers. As such, it makes sense that he will represent Telenet in the media and entertainment companies in which Telenet has a stake (De Vijver Media, Pebble Media, Streamz and The Park), keeping in mind the confidentiality rules that apply to this.
“I’m very pleased that Jeroen Bronselaer is willing to take on this responsibility”, emphasizes John Porter, Telenet CEO. “Jeroen has a passion for everything related to media and will use his extensive experience in this field to lift our entertainment activities to an even higher level. I would like to thank Jeroen for his boundless efforts and energy that have made Telenet's residential business a resounding success. Under his leadership, Telenet has evolved into a mature ‘fixed-mobile’ company with a broad brand portfolio, thanks to, among other factors, the successful integration of BASE and the favorable launch and development of WIGO and YUGO. In addition, he was also the person who enhanced the focus on media and entertainment, and solidified the position of Play, Play More and Play Sports in Flanders and Brussels. I wish him every success in this new challenge.”
As a result of the appointment of Jeroen Bronselaer as the new CEO of SBS, the final responsibility for the Telenet residential business will be taken on by Dieter Nieuwdorp, currently Senior Vice President Strategy and SOHO (Small Offices, Home Offices). Dieter Nieuwdorp will also remain responsible for SOHO and Corporate Development.
The Strategy and M&A department, which currently falls under the responsibility of Dieter Nieuwdorp, will be headed by CFO Erik Van den Enden.
In order to put more strategic focus on the further development of the BASE brand, the ultimate responsibility for BASE will be taken on by Patrick Vincent.
Dieter Nieuwdorp, Patrick Vincent and Erik Van den Enden remain members of the Telenet SLT, and, as such, continue to report to CEO John Porter.
The above changes within the Telenet Senior Leadership Team will be implemented on November 1, 2020.
