The Park Playground to attend its first Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

From 27 February to 2 March, 2023, virtual reality experience provider The Park Playground will be present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the world's leading mobile technology event. You will find The Park at HTC's booth, the leading virtual reality platform creating immersive VR experiences.

Visitors to the MWC can immerse themselves in Mission Planet X, a multi-player sci-fi VR experience, at the HTC booth. To facilitate this, The Park is installing a 6x6-metre free-roam playing field with HTC VIVE wireless Focus Pro 3 headsets. Players will experience a full mobile VR experience within this specialised zone without having to carry any hardware on their backs.

HTC and The Park are no strangers. The research and development teams have been collaborating closely since 2018. The partnership has already been highly beneficial for the further development of VR products.

"We are very excited to be at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona together with HTC. We are a somewhat atypical participant but feel honoured to highlight this partnership at such a large and important international congress. This partnership has effectively accelerated the evolution towards more inclusive and engaging VR experiences, which is crucial for the future of our industry. Our 12 existing VR venues all use HTC's technology with new openings planned around the world.  We are very much looking forward to our continued collaboration with HTC to expand the future of location based VR entertainment - and especially internationally." Gilles-Adrien Cenni, CTO of The Park Playground.

Recently, The Park Playground announced further expansion into Australia. The company is partnering with Arena 21 to launch a venue in Brisbane. It is scheduled to open at the end of March 2023. Late last year, The Park also opened a branch in Leeds, in the UK.

About The Park Playground

Launched in 2018, The Park Playground is a corporate venture of Telenet (Entertainment & Telco Provider of Belgium and part of Liberty Global) and 9.5 Magnitude Ventures with the mission of bringing the future of entertainment to the general public.  The Park offers immersive virtual reality experiences and is an example of what we call 'phygital entertainment'. It offers people a team experience that sits on the border between physical and digital life.

The Park Playground has expanded rapidly in recent years and operates 12 company-owned and franchised venues worldwide, with an additional two UK venues and a venue in Australia set to open this year.
