Telenet takes over Belgian ICT integrator NEXTEL - new step in the further development of Telenet Business

On October 31, 2017, Telenet Group BVBA, a direct subsidiary of Telenet Group Holding NV (Euronext: TNET),  has entered into an agreement with the current shareholders of TelelinQ NV concerning the takeover of the company TelelinQ NV, and its subsidiaries Nextel NV, Nextel Telecom Solutions NV and TelelinQ Distribution & Finance NV (hereafter NEXTEL or ‘the company’). In order to support growth this takeover will provide the Telenet group with additional in-house expertise to design, construct and manage total solutions on behalf of other companies. As a Belgian integrator NEXTEL currently works for major companies, SMEs, care institutions, non-profit organizations and government authorities. NEXTEL has offices in Wommelgem and Zaventem and to date has 315 permanent employees. The takeover has to be submitted to the Belgian Competition Authority for approval, before it can be executed.

Telenet has identified an increasing demand in the business market for end to end solutions and a single contact point for both telephone and network services. Going forward Telenet Business, which currently supplies these services mostly to small companies, aims to offer them to medium sized and large businesses following repeated requests from customers and in order to extend the existing partner network.

The takeover of NEXTEL will enable Telenet Business to better accommodate these expectations with, for example, end to end solutions such as cloud based telephone systems, integrated LAN/Wi-Fi solutions, Unified Communication & Collaboration (UCC), camera surveillance, and building access controls. NEXTEL is already delivering these types of services to over 5,000 customers and at 10,000 sites.

John Porter, CEO Telenet: ‘I am pleased that we have come to an agreement on the takeover of NEXTEL. This will enable Telenet Business to move forward and continue to support the growth initiated in recent years.’

Peter Roelens, CEO TelelinQ: ‘I am convinced that the Telenet/Nextel combination will give our customers’ business an extra boost to give our customers a bigger advantage in their own markets. Moreover, Telenet is an excellent environment for NEXTEL employees to develop their ambitions and creativity even more.’

‘NEXTEL and Telenet Business effectively complement each other: Telenet Business is a successful operator in connectivity and Data Security. Combined with the knowhow of an integrator such as NEXTEL, we will be able to offer total solutions at the request of business customers; over and above our strong partner network,’ Martine Tempels, Senior Vice President at Telenet for Business, explained.

The takeover of TelelinQ NV includes its subsidiaries NEXTEL NV, NEXTEL Telecom Solutions NV, the Belgian integrator departments within the company and TelelinQ Distribution and Finance NV, a provider of rental and leasing solutions for ICT equipment. These activities delivered a turnover of approximately 47 million euros in 2016.

The planned takeover of TelelinQ NV by Telenet Group BVBA will first be submitted to the Belgian Competition Authority for approval, before it can be executed.
