CEO John Porter lends his chair to a student for one day
Thursday, March 2, 2017 — Today John Porter, CEO of Telenet, shares his office with a student of Solvay Brussels School Economics & Management. Lenka Slezakova will walk a day in John’s shoes and discover what a day in the life of a CEO is like.
This ‘position switch’ is part of the ‘CEO for a day’ concept, an event that started in Spain eight years ago. The concept is being organised for the third consecutive year in Belgium by the international executive search company Odgers Berndtson.
The concept is quite simple: after a comprehensive selection, five top master students of Solvay Brussels School are linked to five CEO’s of large companies in Belgium. In practice, this means that Lenka will accompany John an entire day to all his meetings and encounters, both internally and externally.
John Porter is enthusiastic: “I’ve been really looking forward to this day. One the one hand it is a unique opportunity for future talents to further develop themselves professionally. Lenka will learn how theory is translated into operations and how we translate strategic decisions in specific plans. On the other hand, I hope she will inspire me with her fresh ideas. I’m also looking forward to find out what drives young, future talent. In other words, I am convinced it will be a win-win for both of us.”
In addition to John Porter, the CEOs of AGC, Degroof Petercam, EVS Broadcast Equipment and Solvay are also participating in this concept.
