Peter Vindevogel new CEO of The Park

Mechelen, May 12, 2022 – Peter Vindevogel has been appointed as the new CEO of The Park, the Virtual Reality venues of Telenet, starting on June 1, 2022. After the successful start-up years, the company is now ready for its next growth phase.

The Park, the corporate venture of Telenet and 9.5 Magnitude Ventures, where families and companies can experience unforgettable virtual reality adventures, will be managed by Peter Vindevogel (47) as of June 1. Peter has extensive experience in the media and entertainment world. Up to April, he was CEO of Streamz, the local streaming service launched by Telenet and DPG Media in 2020. Prior to this, he earned his stripes at Telenet, where he was responsible for television services such as Play (More) and Play Sports. Peter Vindevogel has also been a member of the Board of Directors of The Park from its foundation in 2018.

Following the first growth phase of this start-up, from the first venue in Antwerp to 11 venues in Belgium and the Netherlands, Peter now takes over the torch from Philippe De Schutter, who has taken on a new challenge at the Upway start-up. Peter will continue to drive the international growth of the company.

"If you combine cool entertainment titles with the strong VR experience developed by The Park, the result is an unforgettable experience. The Park is leading the way in the B2C VR sector, and we’re just at the beginning of the possibilities", explains Vindevogel.

John Porter, CEO of Telenet, wishes Peter every success in his new challenge: ‘The Park is synonymous with unique Virtual Reality experiences that are enjoyed by a wide audience, ever since it was launched. For Telenet, The Park is a significant hub for experimenting with content extensions, such as the De Mol game, but also new technology such as 5G. We know Peter as someone who is a great fan of entertainment, and who knows how to hit the right notes to achieve growth. I wish him every success with the further development of the growth strategy of The Park.”

Boilerplate - About The Park

The Park is a Telenet and 9.5 Magnitude Ventures ‘corporate venture’ with the mission of bringing the future of entertainment to the general public. The Park was launched in Antwerp in 2018, and entered into a partnership with Vodafone in the Netherlands in 2020, with the start-up of the venues in Breda and Eindhoven. In just a short period, The Park has expanded to 11 permanent venues in Belgium and the Netherlands. It offers ‘immersive’ virtual reality experiences, and is an example of what is known in the jargon as ‘phygital entertainment’. It provides people with a VR experience that is on the border between physical and digital sensations.

The Park continually invests in new gaming concepts, which it develops together with the Triangle Factory, a company based in Ghent. In the meantime, there are 5 different free-roaming VR experiences, where you can walk around freely in a virtual world with just a pair of VR goggles and accomplish missions with your gaming mates. At The Park, you can, for example, chase moles in De Mol (based on the well-known TV format), free hostages as a real SWAT team in The Heist, dismantle a bomb in NanoClash, and freak out or chase zombies in The Hallow.
