Telenet confirms strong sustainability performance in the global media sector

Thursday, September 7, 2017 The results of the 2017 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) Review were announced today by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM. Telenet continues its seventh consecutive year of membership of the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe and World Indices. Only leading companies across all industries that outperform their peers on relevant sustainability metrics are selected for the DJSI.

While Pearson was rewarded as global sustainability leader for the media industry, Telenet confirms its strong economic, environmental and social performance with a company score of 74 and a percentile ranking of 98. Telenet and Solvay are the only Belgian companies included in the Indices.

The basis for selection is RobecoSAM’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which focuses on a company's long-term value creation with questions on financially material economic, environmental, and social practices, tracking issues such as corporate governance, environmental performance, supply chain standards and employee retention.

Telenet is rewarded for its social performance

Areas in which Telenet was named best-in-class included Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy, Human Capital Development and Responsibility of Content. In addition, Telenet received top scores for its performance on Stakeholder Engagement, Supply Chain Management and Talent Attraction & Retention.

In addition to its reaffirmed representation in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, Telenet continues to be a member of the FTSE4Good Index and the Euronext-Vigeo Benelux 20 and Eurozone 120 Indices.

Telenet’s commitment to sustainability: With pleasure!

At Telenet, sustainability continues to be an integral part of the company's long-term strategy and business vision, especially in times of change. As part of the transformation program following the acquisition of BASE Company in spring 2016, Telenet took the opportunity to thoroughly rethink its sustainability strategy.

In the latest Sustainability Report, Telenet presents its updated commitment for 2017-2020, with four focus domains:

· Amazing Customer Experience: our commitment to customers

· Great Workplace: our commitment to employees

· Digital Society: our commitment to society and local communities

· Responsible Business Practices: our commitment to a fair, open and transparent dialogue with all stakeholders.

Each focus domain is accompanied by a set of measurable targets. One clear example is Telenet’s commitment to accelerate 25,000 young people in the digital age by 2020.

The Sustainability Report also looks back at the company’s achievements in the reporting year 2016. Highlights were 2,145 hours of community work by Telenet employees, higher levels of gender diversity in the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors, the launch of our first all-in package WIGO, and the environmental achievement of avoiding 329 tons of waste by recycling and revaluating used decoders and modems.

John Porter, CEO Telenet: “We are proud that our commitment and investments in responsible business practices and sustainability is recognized by Telenet's inclusion to the Dow Jones Sustainability World & Europe Indices for the seventh consecutive year. In the future we want to continue to contribute to the positive social development of people and businesses.”
