Telenet gives the market a wake-up call with new mobile rates plans KING and KONG

· 85% of Telenet-customers will be able to cut their mobile bills

· Just 2 clear, transparent rates plans

· The customer is free to come and go at will

· Extra price discount for all Telenet-customers (73% of the population in Flanders)

- Telenet is giving the Belgian mobile telecommunication market a wake-up call with the launch of two new mobile rates plans. The operator is simplifying its range to two plans: KING and KONG. Both plans include a lot more data, SMS and calling minutes than the average consumer uses, at a very competitive price. Studies[1] show that 85% of Telenet-customers can cut their mobile bill with KING or KONG or can get more minutes and SMS messages for the same price. Customers who use a fixed Telenet-product (TV, internet, landline telephony), will get an additional discount of €5 or €20: for KING and KONG respectively they pay €15 and €50.

KING and KONG: bigger, biggest! Mobile internet, SMS and worry-free calls
With the new rates plans, Telenet is going all-out for simplicity and transparency. The mobile range will be simplified to two rates plans at highly competitive prices. For "KING", the customer pays 20 euros per month. This entitles him to 150 calling minutes, 10,000 SMS and 500MB data. Big brother "KONG" costs 70 euros and includes 2000 minutes, 10,000 SMS and 1GB data. Customers who already get television, internet or landline telephony from Telenet get an extra discount on the new products. This means that 73% of the population in Flanders will pay respectively €15 and €50 per month. There is also a third option "Usage Based Pricing" (Walk & Talk 0). With this plan, the customer pays only for the amount consumed. The price per minute and per MB for this rates plan will drop significantly. The customer will as of tomorrow pay only €0.15/min, €0.10/SMS and €0.10/MB. All new rates plans can be cancelled at any time free of charge.

The current mobile Telenet-plans will be automatically updated if this is to the customer's benefit. If this is not the case, then the customer is entitled to 25% more calling minutes and SMS messages on his existing rates plan for the same price.

Simulator: Do the test and see for yourself how much you'll save
With these new rates plans Telenet wants to break through the inertia of the mobile telecommunication market. Consumers can see for themselves via the simulator on the website how much they can save by changing rates plan or operator. Based on a recent bill, the consumer simply enters the recorded amount of calling minutes, SMS messages, mobile internet volume and the current total price on www.telenet.be/besparingsmodule. The simulator then calculates the potential savings and determines which Telenet-rates plan is the best match.

Duco Sickinghe, CEO of Telenet: "Telenet has a long history with mobile products. In 2006 we started with our mobile activities. In 2009, we were the first to bring subsidized mobile phones and smartphones onto the market. In 2011, we opened our SmartSpots, a new shop concept where customers have the opportunity to discover the evolving mobile technology through high-tech, interactive displays. What's more, over the years we have continued to expand our range with more data, more SMS messages and a wide choice of smartphones. Now, we aim to break through the inertia in the market with these new competitively priced rates plans. We recommend that consumers take a good look at their mobile bills and find out how much they stand to save. "

Inge Smidts, sr Vice-President Residential Marketing: "With these new plans, for the majority of Flemish consumers, we offer the best rates plans in Belgium. Moreover, we offer the most advantageous roaming rates. We are responding to the demand for cheaper products, with greater transparency and less complexity. Our packages include enough mobile internet, SMS and calling minutes to enjoy your plan worry-free, without counting the costs. Not only that but all of our loyal customers also receive a major price discount. All of our existing rates plans will be upgraded with 25% extra calling minutes and SMS messages. In combination with the previous decision to do away with fixed-duration contracts for all mobile plans starting from 1 October, more than ever, our products are all about clarity and transparency."
