Telenet the 1st Belgian telecom company to be awarded the Microsoft Lync Certificate

SIP Trunking, the VoIP solution for speech and fax communications of the business division of Telenet, has been awarded the Microsoft Lync CertificateTelenet had its SIP network subjected to a number of tests in order to guarantee 100% compatibility with the Lync solution. This means that Telenet can always offer the customer a reliable VoIP solution. Lync allows the customer to use Unified Communications and Unified Collaboration in a hosted model in addition to the traditional IT solutions.

Advantages of the Lync Certificate for SIP Trunking
In the past few months, Telenet worked closely together with Microsoft and an external network auditor to obtain the Lync Certificate. This "Lync certified" label for SIP Trunking has many different advantages. To the integrator this means that Belgium also finally has a certified network operator; customers, after all, want maximum reliability when it comes to telephony solutions. The customer is guaranteed to get a reliable solution and correct end-to-end support.

Luc Luyckx, Product Manager of TV and Voice at Telenet: "We are very proud of getting the Lync Certificate. This means a big step forward in marketing our reliable VoIP solutions for companies via our SIP Trunking product. Thanks to this certification, companies know that with Telenet, as the only Belgian operator, they can depend on a perfect support model, provided by the collaboration between Microsoft, Telenet and their partners."

"It's important to Microsoft that Telenet responds to the demand of its customers, who are looking for a well-performing, up-to-date Unified Communications solution. Now that Telenet offers Lync-certified network connectivity, our customers can work together even more cheaply and efficiently, no matter where they are", says Annelies Bulkens, Product Manager for Lync at Microsoft BeLux.

Hosting as well as cloud solutions
Telenet will continue to position itself in the business market in the future, offering hosting as well as cloud solutions. Lync, and more specifically Lync Voice, is a logical addition to Telenet's current product range, as it allows customers to use Unified Communications and Unified Collaboration in a hosted model in addition to the traditional IT solutions. This offers many advantages, such as improved cooperation by means of chat and video conferencing, the option to "work mobile", more flexibility and a more efficient cost model.

Microsoft Lync: the solution for Unified Communications
Lync is Microsoft's solution for Unified Communications, and offers easy access to several means of communication via one, simplified interface. This means that communication becomes interaction, with the emphasis on cooperation, commitment and accessibility. Users can easily connect and work together with others from any location with internet access.

SIP Trunking: a reliable VoIP solution
Telenet's SIP Trunking service consists of a connection between companies' IP-PBX and Telenet's speech and fax communications network. SIP Trunking enables the customer to phone mobile and landline numbers and to send faxes in Belgium and abroad. A fibre optic cable connects the customer directly to Telenet's speech network. The connection is based on the IP protocol, and SIP is used as the signalisation protocol for communication transport.
