Telenet completes sale of stake in Caviar group

Mechelen, January 7, 2026 – Telenet Group NV (hereinafter “Telenet”) announces today that it has sold its entire stake in the Caviar group (hereinafter “Caviar”). The sale was completed on December 30, 2025. This step results from a realignment of Telenet’s media and entertainment strategy: Caviar seeks to accelerate its international growth, while Telenet is focusing its resources and attention on the Flemish media ecosystem and digital innovation. Although Caviar also owns assets that produce local content, the necessary international expansion of Caviar no longer aligns with Telenet’s chosen direction.

After the transaction, Caviar is now owned by founders Bert Hamelinck, Mathias Coppens, and Michael Sagol, investment fund Axio Together Fund, and entrepreneur Jurgen Ingels. Thanks to this new shareholder structure, Caviar will also be able to strategically focus on international scale and expansion in the coming years.

Telenet Group NV will now focus its resources and attention even more strongly on projects that are locally relevant for viewers and customers in Flanders. This focus supports a sustainable and creative media landscape and allows Telenet to respond more quickly to local needs.

John Porter, CEO Telenet Group NV: “The partnership with Caviar has always been more than just a business investment for Telenet: together we have realized inspiring projects, and our shared passion for strong storytelling remains. With this step, we sharpen our focus on Flemish stories and digital innovation, while Caviar can dedicate itself to further international growth. Of course, we are happy to continue collaborating on projects that make a difference locally, and we wish Caviar and its new partners every success.”
Bert Hamelinck, CEO of Caviar: “This new shareholder structure, with strong involvement from our own management, enables us to realize our ambitions even further. We will continue to invest in high-quality content, support talent development, and strengthen our international partnerships. Our goal remains to tell stories that have an impact both locally and globally.”

Telenet remains, where relevant, open to collaborations with Caviar that contribute to strong local stories and an optimal viewing experience.
