Telenet group reaffirms its commitment to Mechelen

New headquarters focused on well-being, flexibility and optimal collaboration for employees

  • Telenet group remains rooted in its hometown of Mechelen, where it will move into brand-new headquarters in 2030.
  • The Ragheno site is located within walking distance of Mechelen station, within a green setting that is part of a new neighborhood where living and working will come together.
  • The complex, a development by CORES Development, will be modern, future-proof and energy-efficient.

Mechelen, 22 June 2026 - Telenet group was founded in Mechelen thirty years ago. Today, the company is using this milestone as an opportunity to resolutely shape its future: a final agreement has been reached with CORES Development for the construction of new headquarters on the Ragheno site, in one of the buildings of the new The Quint office cluster. Telenet group plans to move in by 2030; construction will commence in 2027. The Ragheno site is set to become a vibrant new neighborhood with its own unique dynamics, an environment that will offer many benefits to both employees and local businesses.

A workplace designed to meet the requirements of tomorrow

With this development Telenet group is adapting its workplace to what will be needed tomorrow: more scope for collaboration, flexibility and ongoing employee development. The current headquarters are becoming increasingly unfit for purpose and require significant additional investment, which would cause further inconvenience for employees. By opting for new headquarters Telenet group is creating a work environment that is totally in tune with future requirements: more comfortable, more sustainable and equipped with all the amenities needed for optimal collaboration between colleagues.

Starting with a blank canvas, Telenet group is designing every square meter of the interior to suit the way in which teams will collaborate going forward. Meeting rooms will be grouped together to ensure that employees can connect more easily and waste less time between meetings. Quiet workspaces, meeting rooms and other facilities will be interconnected in a logical manner. Access points will also be based on this logical approach: the bicycle entrance will be located on the canal side, an attractive and safe route that takes cyclists directly to the office. Wide, central staircases and well-designed walking routes will encourage employees to remain on the move throughout their workday. A spacious auditorium will be a venue for events, training sessions and meetings.

Designed to be a sustainable, eco-friendly and healthy environment

Telenet group has deliberately chosen The Quint, which far exceeds current sustainability standards. The new complex aims to obtain two leading international certifications: BREEAM Outstanding, the highest rating for sustainable building design, construction and management; and WELL Platinum, which focuses on health, comfort and well-being, with an emphasis on air quality, natural light, acoustics and physical activity. Greenery will also play a key role in the design. A spacious atrium, a courtyard garden and several green (rooftop) terraces will bring nature into the heart of the building and will offer employees places to work outdoors, hold meetings or take a quick break. In fact the new headquarters will fit in nicely within the wider Ragheno development, where an 11-hectare city park will also be incorporated over the coming years.

Easily accessible

The decision to choose the Ragheno site is part of a more wide-ranging vision for sustainable mobility. The building is within walking distance of Mechelen station, with direct connections to Brussels, Antwerp and the rest of the country. People arriving by bicycle will find a spacious, covered bicycle storage area with adjacent restrooms and showers, making biking or walking to work an attractive option.

“Telenet group continues to build its future in Mechelen. The city that welcomed us with open arms from day one,” John Porter, CEO of Telenet group, related. “We have been working together here for thirty years now, building a strong corporate culture, supported by dedicated employees. We want to preserve and further enhance this culture, which is why we are investing in a contemporary work environment where colleagues can easily connect and develop together.”

“The fact that Telenet group has once again chosen Mechelen means a great deal to our city,” Bart Somers, Mayor of Mechelen, stated. “Telenet, which was founded here thirty years ago and subsequently became one of the country’s leading technology companies, is now taking another major step forward from its base in Mechelen. The innovative DNA of both Telenet group and our city has been closely aligned all these years: a desire to move forward, to not be afraid to innovate and to help build the future. It consequently makes sense that the beating heart of a company with 3,500 employees will soon be located within this new neighborhood of the future. I am convinced that they will complement each other: an innovative neighborhood attracts innovative companies and, vice versa, Telenet group will give this new neighborhood an extra boost.”

Greet Geypen, Alderwoman for Urban Development, Spatial Planning, and Urban Design, “The Quint shows that the first office project at Ragheno is taking shape. A new neighborhood needs more than just housing. By also providing scope for workspaces, we are building a neighborhood that can grow in a vibrant and balanced way. Thanks to a constructive preliminary phase involving our construction department, guided by the quality assurance team, we now have a carefully considered and ambitious design on the table. A successful neighborhood develops on the basis of meticulously planned projects that reinforce one another. This building reflects this vision and contributes to the continued development of a new neighborhood that will help shape Mechelen over the coming years.”

“The Quint is a perfect example of our vision: to develop new sustainable projects in strategic locations where living, working and leisure come together. We are consequently extremely proud to be able to help shape the future plans of a pioneer such as Telenet group. Together, we are building an energy-efficient complex in an easily accessible location. The building supports the way people want to work today and in the future: easily accessible, flexible, within a green setting and close to the city,” Alexander Vanheukelen, CEO of CORES Development, explained.

Until the move in 2030, Telenet group will continue to operate from its current headquarters in order to ensure continuity for both employees and customers. Employees will be guided through the process at each stage and receive regular updates on the schedule moving forward.
