Telenet sets the record straight on TV and internet

No mandatory switch. No general price increase. Instead: clear choices, transparency and customer support.

General statement

In recent days, confusion has arisen in the media as well as among several opinion leaders and politicians regarding Telenet’s new internet and entertainment offering. Some elements have been interpreted incompletely or incorrectly, creating the impression that (existing) customers would be forced to switch to the new Telenet environment or would have to pay more. That impression is incorrect.

With the new Telenet environment, we are deliberately moving away from standard bundles and making a clear choice for greater transparency, greater simplicity and, above all, more freedom of choice. In this new environment, customers put together their own telecom and entertainment package based on their individual needs and pay for what they choose, not for what they do not use.

Here are the facts at a glance:

1. This is NOT a general price increase, NOT a mandatory switch

It is important to state this clearly: this is not a classic price adjustment whereby customers would suddenly have to pay more.

  • Existing customers can rest assured: they keep their current products and prices for as long as they wish. No one is forced to change anything today.
  • The former Easy Internet product is no longer offered to new customers, as research shows that a product with limited specifications no longer meets the needs of most customers today.
  • Comparing new internet products with a product that is no longer part of the offer is therefore not correct. In fact, it is a case of comparing apples and oranges when placing the current offer next to the new one, as each customer now chooses what suits them best.
  • We understand that such a transition raises questions, which is precisely why we are strongly committed to clarity and guidance.

2. The new internet offer: clearer and futureproof

In the renewed offer, customers no longer choose from predefined bundles but build their own telecom package.

  • Each component has a clear function, price and value. As a result, customers know exactly how much they pay and retain full flexibility.
  • The most affordable new internet offer for new customers today is a formula with unlimited data and higher speeds, tailored to modern usage.
  • This ensures transparency and simplicity, instead of fragmented formulas that are increasingly difficult to explain.

3. Watching TV and internet: nuance is required

A number of assumptions about TV and internet are also circulating and require clarification.

  • For the specific group of customers who currently only have digital TV and need to replace their decoder due to outdated technology, we will continue, even after the launch of the new offer, to provide an internet product of 100 Mbps at €34.99 per month. The same price point as today.
  • This product is offered in a very targeted way, with additional support and promotions of up to €25 discount for six months.
  • We will maintain this offer for as long as the trade‑in process for old digicorders is ongoing, so that no one is forced to switch under time pressure.

4. Customer support and comfort are central

No one is “suddenly” forced to change today. We deliberately take the time and responsibility to properly inform customers, guide them, and offer solutions that fit their situation.

Our ambition with the new offer is clear: more choice, more clarity and more comfort, instead of complexity and unclear comparisons with products that no longer exist.

As always, Telenet remains available to answer questions and provide further clarification to customers, the media and competent authorities, based on facts and transparency.
